We didn’t come out of nowhere.

We came from the watersports industry, where innovation is everything and weak materials don’t survive a single season. Back in the late 90s, honeycomb cores were the big thing — until everyone learned the hard way that they couldn’t handle real-world use. Too brittle. Too much air. Too little surface area for strong bonds. And once you add impact and temperature changes into the mix? Game over.

So our brand at the time moved on. To foam cores — stronger, more consistent, more durable. And for the last 25+ years, we’ve mastered them.

When we started Firefly Pickleball, we brought that knowledge with us. While other paddle companies were selling high-priced honeycomb cores as “the ultimate,” we were already building solid foam core paddles that performed better and lasted longer.

Now, the rest of the industry is finally making the switch — but they’re just starting to learn what we’ve known all along.
